Little Mr 2's ducky party

In May our little man Mackinnon turned 2!  It's so hard to believe he is 2 already - the time has flown and it is our pleasure to watch this little person grow and show his personality traits and learn all the things that babies learn in the first 2 years...

Birthdays are always a big deal in our house, and I love planning every detail, sourcing products and putting it all together.  This year I decided on a ducky theme for a few reasons - firstly because Mackinnon completes our family and is our last baby I knew it would also be the last party that I could theme with a toddler-type theme and I am sure next year he will have an input into what type of party he would like... Secondly I have always been a fan of duckies and a little rubber ducky has lived in Mackinnon's room since we set his nursery up...Lastly it is such a cute theme and I knew instantly the colours to use to bring it all together.

So with duckies in mind and a palette of pastel colours we also decided an icecream bar would be a fun addition to the party... The children absolutely LOVED making their sundaes and who doesn't love icecream!!!

A favours and candy bar completed the party as our way to thank Mackinnon's gorgeous little friends for coming and helping to make his 2nd birthday special.

Here's the photos from the day, taken by Renee Bell from NFE Design (an amazing photographer from Newcastle, NSW)

Mothers Day Table Challenge...

I love EVERYTHING about Mother's Day!  I love what it represents.  I love that I am a mum and that my babies love honouring me.  I love being able to have a day to spoil my mum and show her how much I appreciate her.  I love the little handmade gifts and the things from the school Mothers Day stall.  I love Mothers Day shopping.  I love the stores being filled with lots of pink and feminine and gorgeous gifts.  I love the weather in May.  I love EVERYTHING about the day!!!

Last month I noticed a Mothers Day Table Challenge competition being held by  Lily Chic Events and Luminoso Blu and couldn't wait to enter!  I wanted to create an intimate and simple table, and used my 2 sisters and my mum as the inspiration ~ a lovely setting outdoors with a delicious brunch and some yummy treats to finish.  I also hoped to inspire others to do something simple yet gorgeous for their own Mothers Day.

Here is our winning entry:

I wanted a menu that was casual yet scrumptious and this is what I came up with:

Pumpkin Soup with mini toast
Bacon & Zucchini Slice
Ham, Cheese and Lettuce Rolls with Tomato relish and sour cream
Mini Strawberry Cheesecakes
Chocolate Selection Platter
Rainbow Cake
Jelly & Meringues

I also used a selection of products that are available in our store at www.sweetlittlebirdy.com.au, as well as some of my favourite things from my personal collection x

I absolutely loved seeing all the other entries ~ everyone submitted such wonderful tables x

A big thank you to Lily Chic Events and Luminoso Blu, along with the judges from Just Call Me Martha and Little Big Company for running such an inspiring and fun challenge.

1950's housewife Tea Party

As many of you realise we surprised everyone by eloping 2 weeks ago and had a magical perfect wedding at the most divine bed and breakfast, Telegraph Retreat, near Port Macquarie, NSW.

Before we eloped I hosted a 'secret' Kitchen Tea and enjoyed a delightful afternoon with some family and friends.  We had such a great time dressing up and enjoying a fun photo shoot with Renee from Renee Bell Photographer.

(The wig and red lipstick were a bit out of my comfort zone, but it was fun to dress up and catch up for some girly chatting and laughs).

Lots of yummy treats to eat on Sweet Little Birdy products and a mini candy bar for guests to take home some sweetness made the day one filled with sweet memories.

Some of our fun shots!

YUM YUM - carrot cakes in liberty baking cases, scones, strawberry, cake pop skewers and mini pears on one of our gorgeous 2 tier stands

Baby Blue Party for Louis' First Birthday

My dear friends Lyndall and Marc's little man turns one tomorrow.  I can't believe he is one already ~ it doesn't seem that long ago that we cried mountains of tears together when pregnancy just wasn't happening for this amazing couple and the journey into IVF was to begin ~ but miraculously they conceived their first baby naturally, a gorgeous princess named Irelyn, and then quickly after little Louis arrived and all those sad, hard and long days of thinking they would never be mummy and daddy have been replaced with smiles and giggles and laughter as we watch their delightful children grow.

Happy Birthday little man xxx

Here are some photos from his party that was held last weekend ~ blue for a boy was the theme and everything looked (and tasted) gorgeous.

Coconut Ice ~ yum

Lyndall's first ever attempt at cake pops - GREAT JOB!!!
